Over the last few years, you probably have chanced upon a handful of fisherman slinging streamers, wet flies and emergers with two-handed rods on your local trout streams. The first time I saw someone spey casting for trout on my local trout stream, I was immediately mesmerized and intrigued by the grace and efficiency of this approach to trouting. For more than two years, I tried to teach myself speycasting. After watching 3 instructional DVDs from start to finish countless times, reading two volumes of spey casting books, and browsing countless hours of Youtube videos I was still less than adequate at casting and fishing with my spey rod.
Fast forward to October 2019 when I ran into Jerry on the Houstatonic River while plowing through a run with my 2-wt trout spey. Jerry's enthusiasm for casting is contagious. His skill as a caster is only surpassed by his ability to teach and convey the essence of spey casting. He is equally adept to scandi and skagit styles of casting.
In my one afternoon of lawn casting with Jerry I gained more proficiency with my spey rod than the past 2 years of self teaching combined. I met Lisa two months later when I booked a formal lesson with the dynamic duo. They are truly outstanding teachers and fantastic individuals to fish with.
So look no further and wait no more. If you are interested in getting into spey casting, you owe it to yourself to book a lesson with Jerry and Lisa. I guarantee you that with cost of a lesson that is no more than the price of a Scandi head, you can get into the spey game with less time and have more fun doing it if you start with a lesson from Lisa and Jerry.
