What to expect from an introduction to spey class.

Please plan to spend about four hours with us as we have a slightly different approach to our lessons.

We like to sit down with you and learn a little bit about what type of fishing you're looking to do as well as what you were looking to learn from your time with us.

We take about 45 minutes to go over the basic principles of spay casting. What is an anchor? what is a dee loop? and why they are important to making a successful cast.

We also go over basic line selection and why it's so important to have a balanced setup to work with. We are well-versed in Scandinavian as well as Skagit style casting.

After this introduction, we spend some time going over the mechanics of the cast on the grass. No, it is not the same as being in the water but it's a great way to get the feel of the cast.

From there it's time to Don waders and proceed to the water. We will start with the basic switch cast and then move on to the single spey. From there the sky's the limit. All the different casts are just a matter of where you want to place your anchor and where your target is. We feel that spending time on the basics pay such dividends as you progress. If the house doesn't have a good foundation, well you know where we are going with that.

We also want to stress that in your time with us, YOU set the pace. Everyone learns in their own way and in their own time. We never want someone to feel frustrated or rushed. There's too much of that in life already.

We are also happy to provide rods, reels and lines for students to use for lessons. These are good balanced outfits so all you need to think about is casting. If you have an outfit, you are certainly welcome to bring it. We specialize in matching lines to rods and have a large selection of lines. If you are not sure about what line is right for you we can try the lines we have and dial your rod in to what works best for you.

Lines are expensive! Why not see what works best before you make your purchase.Hopefully, this explains a little bit about what we do and gets you thinking about spending a day with us.
